ATA Photobooths is conducting the 2027 State of the U.S. Photo Booth Industry Survey to measure 2026 business activity and the industry’s 2027 outlook. U.S. photo booth owners, co-owners and authorized managers are invited to share information about equipment, bookings, pricing, revenue, costs, marketing, operations, technology and business challenges.
Take the industry survey
The questionnaire is designed to take approximately 12–15 minutes for an active business and less time for pre-revenue operators. The final completion-time estimate will be confirmed after pilot testing.
Deadline: February 16, 2027
Participation is voluntary. No purchase is required. Taking—or declining—the survey will not affect warranties, technical support, pricing or any existing relationship with ATA Photobooths. Financial questions use ranges and may be skipped.
Survey information
Who should participate?
The survey is intended for one authorized respondent from each U.S.-based photo booth business.
- Owner or co-owner
- Manager authorized to report business information
- Employee or contractor who has been authorized to answer for the business
- Active, pre-revenue, temporarily paused or recently closed U.S. photo booth businesses
Participants must be at least 18 years old. Suppliers, manufacturers, software providers and consultants who do not operate a photo booth business are not part of the main operator sample.
One response per business
If several people work in the same company, choose the person with the best access to equipment, booking, pricing and financial information. Businesses with multiple brands should submit one consolidated response when the brands share the same books and operating team.
What does the survey ask?
| Topic | Examples |
|---|---|
| Business profile | Years operating, full-time or part-time status, team size and booth count |
| Equipment and technology | Booth formats, capture devices, software, printing and equipment financing |
| Bookings and pricing | Annual event volume, event mix, average booking range, seasonality and add-ons |
| Revenue and costs | Gross revenue range, operating margin range, startup investment and typical costs |
| Marketing and sales | Lead sources, referral partners and close-rate ranges |
| Operations | Setup time, travel radius, staffing, backups and business challenges |
| Outlook | 2027 expectations, planned investments, AI adoption and operator confidence |
What the survey does not ask for
The questionnaire does not request passwords, payment-card numbers, Social Security numbers, tax returns, client names or a street address. The main survey does not require a name, business name or email address.
Why does the survey matter?
Public information about the U.S. photo booth industry is limited. Current sources provide useful market and transaction benchmarks, but they do not answer many practical questions about operators themselves.
The ATA survey is designed to measure:
- How many booths operators own and which formats they use
- How booking volume and pricing differ across business types
- How full-time, part-time and pre-revenue operators compare
- Which event categories and lead sources matter most
- How much operators spend on software, marketing and equipment
- What challenges operators face and what they plan to purchase
- How confident operators are about the next year
The goal is to create a more useful reference for operators, manufacturers, software providers, event professionals, journalists and researchers.
How responses will be protected
- Individual survey responses will not be published.
- Results will be reported in aggregate.
- Tables with fewer than 10 respondents in a cell will be suppressed or combined with a broader category.
- Financial questions use ranges and may be skipped.
- Open-ended responses may be summarized or quoted anonymously after removing identifying details.
- A separate optional contact form will be used for report notification or research interviews.
- Optional contact information will not be merged into the public survey dataset.
ATA recommends disabling automatic email and IP-address collection in the primary survey platform whenever technically possible. The final survey platform, retention schedule and privacy notice should be reviewed before launch.
Review ATA’s privacy policy and the survey-specific data-handling notice before participating.
Survey methodology and transparency
The survey will use an online, opt-in, nonprobability sample recruited through ATA customers, the ATA website, public industry outreach, social channels, partner newsletters and photo booth communities. ATA customers and non-customers are both invited.
Because this is an opt-in industry survey rather than a probability sample, ATA will not publish a conventional margin of sampling error or claim that the respondents perfectly represent every U.S. photo booth business.
The final report will disclose:
- Field dates and survey mode
- Eligibility rules and target population
- Recruitment channels
- Question wording and answer choices
- Number of complete and partial responses
- Data-cleaning and duplicate-removal rules
- Whether any weighting was applied
- The respondent profile and known limitations
- The base count for each table and chart
The transparency plan follows common survey-research practices described by the American Association for Public Opinion Research, including disclosure of the sample, recruitment, mode, questionnaire and analysis. AAPOR also cautions that conventional margins of sampling error are not available for ordinary opt-in nonprobability surveys.
How the results will be published
ATA plans to publish the State of the U.S. Photo Booth Industry 2027 report on or around March 31, 2027.
The public release is expected to include:
- An answer-first industry summary
- Visible HTML tables and charts
- Sample sizes and question bases
- The complete questionnaire
- A methodology and limitations section
- A downloadable codebook
- Aggregate CSV and JSON tables
- Definitions for every calculated statistic
Raw respondent-level data will not be released publicly. The report will not identify individual businesses.

Frequently asked questions
Is the survey only for ATA customers?
No. U.S. photo booth owners and authorized operators are invited whether or not they have purchased from ATA.
Is the survey anonymous?
The main questionnaire does not require a name, business name or email address. ATA will report only aggregate findings. The survey platform may collect technical information unless that collection is disabled or disclosed before launch.
Why are financial questions included?
Revenue, margin, startup-investment and cost ranges help operators compare business models. These questions are optional, use broad ranges and may be skipped.
Will ATA publish individual responses?
No. Individual responses and raw respondent-level data will not be released publicly.
Can two people from the same business respond?
The study requests one response per business. When duplicates appear likely, ATA may retain the most complete authorized response.
Will the results have a margin of error?
No conventional margin of sampling error will be reported because the survey uses an opt-in nonprobability sample.
How will small groups be protected?
ATA plans to suppress or combine table cells containing fewer than 10 respondents and to avoid publishing combinations that could identify a business.
Can I receive the report without joining a marketing list?
Yes. The recommended contact form separates report delivery from optional marketing consent.
Who can I contact about the research?
Email [email protected].
